Gunther confronts Rhodes over contract demands on SmackDown

Rhodes arrived at the ring and placed the contract on the table, prompting Gunther to accuse him of shifting focus to himself. Rhodes responded by insisting Gunther sign the agreement in the ring and confirming the match would take place in Italy.

The segment began after Gunther declined to sign a SmackDown contract, leading Heyman to secure the title opportunity. Rhodes, positioned as the central figure on the brand, set up the tables and chairs before Gunther entered the ring. Gunther stated that Rhodes had interfered with his planning and demanded a professional approach without additional commentary.

During the exchange, newcomer Royce Keys intervened and attempted to sign the contract himself, but Gunther took the pen. General manager Nick Aldis ruled that Gunther had forfeited the guaranteed opportunity and scheduled a match between Gunther and Keys for later in the show. Gunther defeated Keys after a distraction involving Solo Sikoa, only for Rhodes to attack him from behind immediately after the bell.

The confrontation sets the stage for the title match at Clash in Italy, where Gunther will challenge Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship.
