Jacobs Faces Five Domestic Abuse Charges After Dispatch Audio Captures Screaming, Fleeing Vehicle
Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs was arrested on five domestic abuse-related charges following an investigation by the Hobart-Lawrence Police Department in Wisconsin. Dispatch audio obtained by Milwaukee television station TMJ 4 captured a dispatcher informing a responding officer of "yelling and screaming," "things being thrown," and an open phone line from inside Jacobs' residence, describing the situation as "possibly a male and female." A second dispatch transmission followed, relaying a neighbor's report that her neighbor had been assaulted.
According to the Hobart-Lawrence Police Department's statement, Jacobs was booked into Brown County Jail on charges of domestic abuse battery, domestic abuse criminal damage to property, domestic abuse disorderly conduct, strangulation and suffocation, and intimidation of a victim. Brown County Jail records classify the strangulation and suffocation charge as a felony; the remaining four charges are misdemeanors. When officers arrived at the residence, Jacobs was not present - he had left the scene in his Mercedes G-Wagon - and police used license plate readers to track the vehicle, issuing a directive to stop it if sighted. The investigation is described by the department as active and ongoing.
Jacobs, 28, denied all charges through his attorneys, David Z. Chesnoff and Clarence Duchac. "Josh vehemently denies the allegations, and this matter is in the early stages of investigation with important evidence that has not yet been made public," the attorneys said in a statement. "We ask for fairness and restraint while the judicial process takes its course." The NFL confirmed it was made aware of the incident and contacted the Packers organization. Green Bay declined to comment, citing the ongoing investigation.
Jacobs completed his second season with the Packers in 2025, rushing for 929 yards and 13 touchdowns. In his first season in Green Bay in 2024, he posted 1,329 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns on 301 carries. Prior to joining the Packers, Jacobs spent five seasons with the Las Vegas Raiders, where his 2022 campaign - 1,653 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns across 17 games - ranked among the league's best that year. His legal status and any potential disciplinary action from the NFL under its personal conduct policy remain unresolved pending the outcome of the investigation.
