Huntley Takes Over As Ravens' Jackson Sits With Ankle Injury
The Baltimore Ravens will start Tyler Huntley at quarterback in place of Lamar Jackson for their Week 5 game against the Atlanta Falcons. Jackson, who has been dealing with an ankle injury since the team's Week 4 loss to the Tennessee Titans, was officially ruled out, making this Huntley's first start of the season.
Head coach Jesse Minter expressed confidence in his backup ahead of the matchup. "We have a ton of confidence in [Huntley] to play really well," Minter said Sunday. "I think everyone on the team is excited to see that." The Ravens' offense enters the game already shorthanded at wide receiver, with Ja'Kobi Lane sidelined on injured reserve with a fractured wrist since Week 1, though Zay Flowers has returned from his own hamstring injury. bet mpl
Huntley has started 12 games across six seasons in Baltimore, going 5-6 in those appearances. His most recent start came on Jan. 4, when he led the Ravens to a win over the Green Bay Packers. He also started the last regular-season meeting between these two teams, in 2022, a game Baltimore won 17-9. Atlanta comes into Sunday's contest off a 45-24 win over the New Orleans Saints, a game in which quarterback Michael Penix Jr. threw for 223 yards and a touchdown and running back Bijan Robinson rushed for 145 yards and two scores.
Minter, in his first season as Ravens head coach, carries a 3-1 record into his first game without Jackson under center. A win over Atlanta would push Baltimore to 4-1 on the season. Kickoff in Atlanta is set for 5:15 p.m. ET Sunday.
